NLU Meg was founded on September 27, 2022, under the National Law University Meghalaya Act, 2022 (Act No. 10 of 2022). On December 13, 2023, the UGC acknowledged NLU Meg under Section 2(f). Being Meghalaya's first law school, it prepares students to participate in socio-legal discourse, particularly in the Northeast.
On April 1, 2024, NLU Meg joined the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and in June–September of the same year, the Bar Council of India (BCI) approved a number of integrated legal programs.
Undergraduate Degrees (5‑Year Integrated Honours)
NLU Meg currently offers three full-time integrated degrees, each with an annual intake of 60 students (total 180), approved for academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26:
